Get Busy Writing, or...

Time to quell my obsession with Easy Cheese, the possible firefighting applications and move along.

I thought that by starting this blog, it would help quiet that voice inside that keeps nagging at me. The voice that shouts, “I have something to say.” Well, the voice has gotten more persistent, and possibly louder, too. The more I write, and the more I read (not my stuff, but actual, real books), the more I hear that voice, the more I want to write. Real stuff, not just blog entries, but stories, poems, maybe even a book.

Am I any good? I honestly don't know. I like to think I am. I guess there's only one way to find out, right?

For all the times I feel I have something to say, doggone if I actually know what to say. Maybe I'll dig out the old story ideas that have been hibernating for years. Maybe I'll start something new. I've been reading Stephen King's book about writing, and that's given me a couple of ideas, sort of. So far, they've just been stewing around, not exactly being story ideas. As of now, they are closer to vague concepts than anything.

I mean, I'm reasonably sure I can construct sentences using words that string together fairly nicely, and somewhat clearly articulate what I want to say. I feel like some of you may actually want to read what I've written, and I feel like a smaller group of you might actually enjoy it. In my head, I can write a story that you want to finish reading. But we all know that my head is a very special place. The only way to know if I can, is to just do.

To paraphrase Stephen King, Get busy writing, or get busy dying.

If you don't hear from me for a few days, you'll know why...

It may not have the same panache as an old Underwood, but this is my weapon of English construction.
