My daughter is invited to a birthday/costume party this Saturday. She decided a while back on her costume and being the bargain shopper I strive to be, I scoured the internet for the best deal on that costume. I looked at more costume sites than I knew existed.
Of course I did this late at night (well, late for me), and when I placed the order, I was really ready for bed. We got the costume a couple of days later, it fit perfectly, and my daughter loved it. It's hanging in her closet as I type. End of story, right? Well, if you don't know me by now...
I remember one year, my daughter had just seen The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and she wanted to be the White Witch from Narnia. The movie wasn't new, so I had a heck of a time searching for a costume. No one had it new anymore, but I found one on Ebay, and it was the right size. I watched it for a day or two. Debating whether to order it, or bid on it. It was a decent price, but more than I would usually spend on a costume. But, it was the only one I had found at that point that didn't cost a zillion dollars, and it was a beautiful costume, too. I decided to make an offer that was less than the “Buy it Now” price, and the seller accepted the offer. My daughter had the costume, I made a crown that looked really close to the movie version, and we were all happy.
Very few people knew who she was supposed to be, but my daughter didn't mind. She has always been her own person when it comes to clothes. She literally started choosing her own clothes when she was a year and a half old.
I ordered her current costume a while back, maybe two weeks ago. It's hanging in her closet. So imagine my surprise when I see a package sitting on my porch from Costume Superstore. Hmm, did I order a second costume? Did I visit that website? Both scenarios are entirely plausible because it was late, I was tired, and I looked at about a billion websites. Well, perhaps I'm slightly exaggerating about the billion part, it's probably more like 936 or so.
The package has my name on it, it doesn't weigh much, probably not even a pound, so I take it inside to open it.
It's not a duplicate costume (thank goodness), it's a witch's hat in the box. Not just any witch's hat, it's a lighted witch hat! It's awesomeness, with lights!!
I know I didn't order this cool hat, since I didn't even look at witch's costumes or hats, so where did it come from? I mean, it came from the Costume Superstore, but why do I have it?
I remembered a recent conversation I had with a friend of mine that was very cryptic, and she was asking me if I always checked my mail. On a whim, I texted my friends to ask if that had sent a package to my house full of awesomeness with lights.
Yep, it's an early birthday gift from a dear, dear friend of mine. I know she reads my blog because she said she got the idea from my blog post.
Thank you, and I love you!!
I guess my birthday week celebration is in full swing.
