What a Day!

Those of you who know me may recall that I have a rather, um, unusual (I couldn't think of a PG way to say what I really mean) sense of humor. If you're new to the blog, well, I just hope you keep reading. I could blame my sense of humor on my MS, and how MS has altered my perception, but, sadly (happily?), I have always been like this. As evidenced here.

Some things just get inside of my head, and I can't let go. They are just too funny (to me). Like today. I can't stop giggling when I think about it.

I have an app on my phone called CheckiDay. It tells you all the weird “celebrations” going on for that day. I wrote about it here and here. I don't always remember to check it (there's a shocker, right?!), but I did today. I looked at it because a friend of mine posted that today is National Eating Healthy Day. What a great concept, right?

I looked at my handy dandy app, and guess what else is happening today? National King Tut Day. National Skeptics Day. National Waiting for the Barbarians Day. There are a couple more, but my favorite one is National Candy Day.

Yep, today is National Candy Day. On the same day as National Eating Healthy Day.
Let that sink in for a minute.

I have no idea how these days come about. I think someone decides, “Hey, we don't have a ____ day. I think I'll make August 16th ____ day.”

However, if you were going to create such a day, wouldn't you make sure there were no glaring discrepancies on that day? What I mean is that tomorrow is National Donut Day and National Men Make Dinner Day. Those seem to go together, at least better than eating healthy and candy.

Which one will you be celebrating? Considering I just had a bagel with blueberry cream cheese, I think I know which way I'm leaning.
